Working

This summer, I am working as a legal intern at a holding corporation for several manufacturing/distribution companies (apparently, I am not allowed to put its name in my blog). We have about 2500 employees. It is a pretty good sized company, but the environment at corporate headquarters is comfortable and laid back. I really enjoy my job. My boss gives me a lot of independence and from day one I started applying what I learned in school.

Our company held its annual bring your dog to work day this past friday. I brought Cesar Augustus (I call him Augustus, hubby calls him Og), my 4 pound toy Chihuahua. He was the smallest dog and had the biggest name. While I was working, he lay in his bed that I put in my office very quietly and cutely. Everyone who meets him is surprised by how obedient he is, and how he is not yappy or aggressive. I think the idea that small dogs have to be yappy is a misconception. Small dogs are not intrinsically bad, it is mostly the fault of their owners. People give small dogs the freedom to behave in ways that they would punish a big dog for, and because of that lack of structure and discipline, the small dog will operate under the delusion that he is the leader of the pack and bully his owner around. Anyway, Augustus is suuuch a good dog. He is sweet, loving, obedient, and the cutest thing in the world. Needless to say, my co-workers were crazy about him. We had a very good day.

Meanwhile, at home, we are in the process of several projects. We are painting the kitchen and bathroom, and today I transplanted some squash and cucumber in the garden. Tomorrow, I will transplant the tomatoes and soon, the habaneros! We love eating habaneros and put them on everything, so it will be a pleasure to have fresh picked ones, organically grown and with no pesticides. We are also finally using the first floor of our house. Ryan is using one bedroom as a workspace and I am using another as a painting studio. I plan on remodeling the upstairs bathroom as well. I am so grateful for Ryan and the love and support he constantly pours upon me. Even though he is busy himself, he still engages in these projects with me.
